Key symptoms include tremors, stiffness, slow movement (bradykinesia), and balance issues, often beginning on one side of the body. While incurable, treatments like medication and deep brain stimulation help manage symptoms and maintain quality of life.

La enfermedad de Parkinson es un trastorno del movimiento neurodegenerativo y progresivo, causado por la pérdida de células cerebrales productoras de dopamina, que suele afectar a personas mayores de 60 años. Sus síntomas principales incluyen temblores, rigidez, lentitud de movimientos (bradicinesia) y problemas de equilibrio, los cuales a menudo comienzan en un lado del cuerpo. Aunque es incurable, tratamientos como la medicación y la estimulación cerebral profunda ayudan a controlar los síntomas y a mantener la calidad de vida.
